Mio, min väns Mio

My best friend had a baby about 6 months ago. Actually, it was two weeks after I had left for Cape Town. So being home now, this was the first time I saw the little fella. It was wonderful and exciting and so…natural, to see Frida with Mio on her hip. Frida & Andreas have been a couple for 12 years. It’s really funny because we had our first boyfriends at the same time. We were 14 and we’d sit at the back of the boys’ scooters and drink moon shine in the neighbour’s garage. In time, boys came in and out of my life, but Frida & Andreas stuck together with love glue. When they got married last year I was proud to read them my wishing well poem on their wedding.

kärlekens kompass

på vägen mot en dröm
det beständiga vilar i våra händer
är det inte slutmålet som lockar vår längtan
utan resan i sig

packar vår kärleksväska
med allt vi behöver på färden
dyrbara minnen,
ovärderliga skratt
bara det bästa får plats

genom berg och dalar
glädje och sorg
inga prövningar för svåra
alla lärdomar blir skatter
som vi gör till våra

vilsna, finner vi oss själva
i en allt för stor värld
i mörkret tappar vi lätt spåren
men gryningens stålar
väcker vår iver
och i gräset smeker morgondaggen såren

för det finns ingen karta
inget svar är givet
vi låter kärlekens kompass
leda oss hem
och genom livet

And here they are now, with a baby, a house in the country side, cats & dogs and a garden. It’s great because I get to come visit, have dinner with them, play with Mio (and have puke all over Strussbob, but he can handle it) walk the dog along the lake and later sink down in their big couch and eat popcorn. And know that someday, this will be my reality too. And how great it will all be then, wherever I may be, I know I will look into my child’s eyes and feel that my life will never be the same. But Andreas and I agreed, that I would have to have a caffè latte holder on my baby stroller…

Can you see the heart? Made with love…
