Succession
today the snow never ceased to fall
on this white coated view
of the playground from my window
seemed more like an deserted battle field
silently, my thoughts travelled to you
that’s not entirely true…
they are relentlessly departed, vanished in war
gradually, snowflakes make their way back home
like battered soldiers
This is my favorite poem of yours. Maybe because it’s the first poem of yours I read, but probably not. It reminds me of my home when I was growing up. I’d sit by the fire and watch the first snow from the window with a cup of hot cocoa and just think. There’s something about the beauty of nature that forces us to stop our busy lives and relax. By the way, whomever your poetry continually addresses is one lucky person to be given so much love and attention in your writing. To find a love that would inspire this emotion is something one could only wish for.
Thank you again for being so open with your work. It brings a smile to my face after reading poems like this one.
Thank you so much Eric!
Wow….uhum…well, first there is more to read if you click on the tag “Poetry” but then, maybe you will find that they all more or less sound the same…because many things…seem to stay the same.
But still. This is what it feels like… “A million moments at once”
