Wanderer
Wanderer, your footsteps are
the road, and nothing more
wanderer, there is no road,
the road is made by walking
.
By walking one makes the road,
and upon glancing behind
one sees the path
that never will be trod again
.
Wanderer, there is no road,
only wakes upon the sea
.
Antonio Machado, Spanish poet, 1875-1939
beautiful. I totally identify with the archetype. The journeyer, who has no end to his road.
Nice one!!
so so true. until you get there you never know what it holds !!
and we create it as we go 😉
I wandered into this blog after a long break and I’m very glad I did.
Great prose, per usual!
Don Quixote wouldn’t have said it better. It is in fact a never ending road. Looking back on my life I am amazed on how much things, people and myself have changed.
Are things better now? Are they worse? I honestly don’t know. Some things I would change, some I wouldn’t, but that doesn’t make much sense, because the correction of one mistake would only lead to the making of other ones.
Like a song by Beth Orton says beautifully: “Regrets are just lessons we haven’t learnt yet.”
I actually found the song on the Tube. Here is the link. The video is quite crappy but the song is great. Hope you like it. Beth was one of my favourite’s sometime back, but she was sucked into a black hole and hasn’t produced anyhting worth listening in 5/6 years. What a shame!
