Imagine – Jack Johnson’s version
1. This is one of the best songs ever written.
2. I’m a sucker for creative graphic design.
3. Jack Johnson’s soft voice brings a new calm to the song.
4. The Instant Karma album proves how timeless John Lennon’s songs are just like Across The Universe Soundtrack did wonders with Beatles’ music.
5. See point 1.
Really cool illustrations on this video. Personally, I prefer John Lennon’s voice… but maybe that’s because I’m much more familiar with it. My kids and I really liked Jack Johnson’s soundtrack for the Curious George movie — his voice and guitar work blended so well together in the songs. Thanks for sharing this video!
Hey Zooky! I agree with you on the video illustration and John Lennon. Jack Johnson is a real sun & surf-lovin singer/songwriter & great musician although with his international fame he has become somewhat of “cafè background music”. His albums have been very influential though, to many people, including myself.
Your blog is really creative btw! Keep it up!
Great graphics.
Oooh, I really like this version of Imagine. Lovely…
I saw your comment(s) on Agnes’ blog, and I just had to stop by for a visit. Funny that you wrote “great to meat…”
Hello Sarsaparilla and welcome!
Haha, yes but it was even more funny that I had to write another comment and correct myself! I think Agnes might be vegetarian 😉
Best wishes!
sometimes I think Jack Johnson is better doing covers. I like those he make more than i like his own stuff. Harper’s and his version to Low Tide High Tide is something out of the normal – a cover which seem to be better than Marley’s own doing.
(the other links don’t work)
I totally agree that Ben Harper + Jack Johnson’s version of “High Tide or Low Tide” is better than the original. Covers can be great but it’s always nice to hear the original as a reference. I think Robert Plant and Alison Krauss really blew new life into Rolling Stones’ “Fortune Teller”. I also prefer it when Nina Simone sings both Leonard Cohens “Suzanne”, and Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released”. On the other hand Feist does “When I Was A Young Girl” better than Nina. Cat Power’s version of Velvet Underground’s “I Found A Reason” and Josè Gonzales’ remake of the Knife’s “Heartbeats” can not be compared.
I can go on…but let’s just say covers are tricky!
The links probably don’t work because you don’t have Spotify – a Swedish free streaming music program. Sorry about that!
