So close, yet so far

I woke up alone this morning at a hotel close to Heathrow Airport.

It took me a while to realize why.

4 flights, 3 countries and 30 travelling hours later, the last 2 hours leg between London and Oslo had been cancelled and I was shuffled into a system of service desk queues, shuttle buses, airport hotels and food vouchers.

We left the jungle in Cabo Matapalo, at the tip of the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica early morning, 2 days ago. Watched the sun rise from the window of the van and held each other’s hands.

A group of squirrel monkeys were playing in the trees and we smiled but took no photos. It wasn’t a novelty to us anymore.

We were so comfortable around each other at that point. Now I wish we had kissed longer when we parted, that I had held his arms a little harder, told him how much I love him more.

We travelled 2,5 weeks together and now we will be apart for 2,5 months.

Lee will still be in Costa Rica doing a dive master course and I will go back to Norway and work. Although countries apart, I feel that we are closer than ever.

I have so much to say and share about our trip.

But now I have a flight to catch.
